Kids’ yoga classes are on the rise and I thought it’d be awesome to bring them to the tri-city area and our local community! Adults already understand how great yoga is for your body and mind and do it all the time. But for kids, it’s a bit different. They might like the poses but find the whole routine a bit tricky to follow. Kids just learn things in their own special way, don’t they? So, that’s where I come in as your instructor, Kami. My job is to make yoga fun and just right for them, so they can enjoy it as much as we do!

In these yoga classes laughter and relaxation go hand in hand. From toddlers wobbling into tree poses to grade-schoolers stretching into strong warriors, these classes are a mix of fun and wellness for ages 1 to 9.

So, why should kids join in regularly? Think of it like this: tantrums become less frequent and more manageable,focus gets a boost, and flexibility goes beyond just the body. They gain balance, not just physically, but in life, too. In short – Kids’ yoga isn’t just about stretching; it’s about building confidence, learning to handle big emotions and of course having fun along the way!

About the instructor

Hi, I’m Kami, 

fueled by my own little one, Myla, who loves to join in on my yoga or fitness workouts in her own unique way, I got motivated to learn more about yoga for kids. That journey led me to become a certified kids yoga instructor with 50 hours of specialized training through Kidding Around Yoga.

I’ve picked up some fantastic techniques to keep children engaged, like using games, songs, instruments and crafts as a means to keep them motivated throughout a class. I’ve even tested out different approaches during Saturday morning classes I am teaching in Burnaby. Now, I’m excited to start my own journey of guiding kids through our busy lives in a fun and creative way.

I’ve crafted a variety of classes, hoping to offer something for everyone. From the high-energy Yoga & Movement class for those active kiddos to bedtime yoga, perfect for winding down before sleep. And let’s not forget about Roots & Reach Yoga, where we’ll explore nature and all its wonders outdoors. Check out the class descriptions below for all the details!

Bedtime Yoga [for ages 5-9 / 45 min]

Bedtime Yoga

Join me for Bedtime Yoga, a drop-off class perfect for kids aged 5-9 years. Wind down your day with calming stretches, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises designed to prepare the body and mind for a restful night’s sleep. In addition to yoga, we’ll create bedtime stories or enjoy a bedtime book, fostering imagination and relaxation before bedtime. Let’s take one step closer to calmness and enhance better sleeping patterns together.

Peaceful Pause [for ages 1-4 & 5-9 / 60 min]

Peaceful Pause

This class is a mindfulness and meditation class tailored for children aged 1-4 years, with parent participation, and it’s particularly beneficial as a pre-nap activity.

For ages 5-9, this class is a drop-off class, making it an ideal after school activity for calming down after a busy day at school.

During the session, children engage in sensory exploration, discovering smells, textures, tastes, and sounds to heighten their awareness and connection to the present moment. Mindfulness practices support children in understanding and managing their emotions, fostering empathy and self-regulation skills. Through simple yet impactful techniques, children develop cognitive abilities and a sense of inner strength. It’s  a valuable tool for their well-being.

After school yoga [for ages 5-9 / 60 min]

After school yoga

Come join our fun and energetic after-school yoga class designed for kids aged 5-9 years old! This class is a great way for children to stretch, breathe, and relax after a long day at school. Through playful sequences and interactive games, kids will improve their balance, strength, and focus while having a blast. Join us for a joyful and calming yoga experience that will leave your child feeling rejuvenated and ready for the evening ahead.

Parent &Tot Yoga [for ages 1-4 / 60 min]

Parent &Tot Yoga

Join me for Parent & Tot Yoga, an engaging class designed for children aged 1-4 years with parent participation. Explore yoga through stories, songs, and interactive activities that foster bonding and encourage physical and emotional development. Connect with your little one while discovering the benefits of yoga in a supportive and playful environment. Additionally, we’ll learn early-in-life breathing techniques to promote relaxation and well-being.

Yoga & Crafts Drop-Off [for ages 2.5 - 5 / 120 min]

Yoga & Crafts Drop-Off

Come join me for a special 2-hour drop-off class blending yoga and crafts. Perfect for little ones aged 2.5 – 5 years old. In the first hour, children will dive into seasonal crafting and sensory play, sparking their creativity and imagination. Then, we’ll move into the second hour for some calming yoga accompanied by music and meditation. It’s a time for your child to explore & create.

While your little ones enjoy their classes you can unwind and enjoy some relaxing time or run errands knowing they’re in good hands. Please note that children must be potty trained to attend this 2-hour session. Join us for a morning of fun, creativity, and relaxation for your child and some well-deserved peace of mind for you!

Roots & Reach Yoga [for ages 5-9 / 60 min]

Welcome to our Nature-Inspired Yoga class for nature-loving kids aged 5 to 9! Through yoga and exploration, we’ll dive into the wonders of British Columbia’s plants and animals, fostering a deep connection with our environment. Weather permitting, we’ll take our practice outdoors, immersing ourselves in nature’s beauty, while indoor sessions provide a cozy alternative on rainy days. Join us for a journey of mindfulness and discovery in the heart of nature! Our aim is to cultivate a deep connection with the earth, spark creativity, and nurture a sense of wonder and gratitude in each child.

Yoga & Movement [for ages 5-9 / 60min]

Welcome to our Yoga Movement class designed specifically for energetic kids aged 5 to 9 years old! In this dynamic and engaging class, I blend the mindful practice of yoga with higher intensity movements to keep young bodies active and minds focused. My goal is to foster a love for movement and mindfulness, while encouraging self-expression and confidence in each child. I combine traditional yoga poses with dynamic movements such as jumping, hopping, and balancing to enhance strength, flexibility, and coordination. We will sweat, but we will also calm down more.

Private Classes [for ages 1-9 / 60min]

Private Classes

Experience the joy of our private yoga class designed for kids aged 1 to 9. Tailored to each child’s developmental stage, our sessions combine playful movement, storytelling, and music for a fun and engaging experience. Parents can choose to participate, observe or drop-off as I guide children in gentle stretches, yoga poses, and mindfulness activities. Join me in nurturing your child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development through the transformative power of yoga.

Birthday Parties

Celebrate your child’s birthday in a unique way with our kids yoga party package!

Ideal for children aged 3-10 years, this offering brings an hour of pure fun with yoga games, playful poses and simple mindfulness exercises that can be customized to suit any party theme.

We’ve got all the yoga gear covered, from mats to any special equipment. Our party room is set up with cozy pillows instead of chairs, making it a perfect spot for cake time and celebrations after the yoga fun.

You can access the space 15 minutes before the party starts to set up, and you’ll have another 15 minutes after it ends for clean up.

Guests included in the package:

We can host up to 8 kids, including the birthday child. Due to the limited space in the room, we’re currently unable to accommodate more guests. Thank you for your understanding.
